Our therapists bring a range of specialized trainings such as eating disorder treatment, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, EMDR, and training through Postpartum Support International, among others.

Welcome to Ashley Vicari Counseling! We are a boutique therapy, coaching, and healing service in the heart of Bowling Green, KY.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what sets us apart as a therapeutic service. While everyone here at the office has been trained in gold standard, evidence based therapeutic interventions and practices, we also have a strong relational component to the work that we do.

In the therapy world, we use the word “attachment“ to speak to the way we develop relationships with people. Because relationships are at the core of our being, we value and promote healing with your inner child, healing with your present self, healing as a participant in your romantic relationship, healing as a participant in your friendships, healing as a participant in your family of origin, AND healing as an individual who is both compassionate for yourself and fiercely advocates for that healed version of yourself to show up daily.

This type of work is not linear. This type of work requires effort, intentionality, and pause. Showing up for yourself means, listening, intuitively to every part of your system and honoring what you find.

So, We would love to support you as you learn how to show up for yourself; as you learn to take up space in world where you’ve been told that you are too much; and as you develop the most congruent, present, and whole version of yourself. We would love to support you as you heal.

Why? Because you made the intentional choice to change your state instead of forcing yourself to run on empty. A change of scenery, a five minute walk, a quiet moment, a dance break, or even a simple mindset shift to noticing the positive possibilities, can restore your energy and reconnect you with who you are.

Bravehearts, at the core of who we are as a practice, we stand firm on our value of working with you on your healing journey through an attachment lens. What this means is that we see the development of good, safe, and appropriate relationships as the foundation to build your entire healing journey upon.

So what is a good, safe, and appropriate relationship?

✨Good: A relationship that is strong and rooted. There is space for back & forth and highs & lows. Energy is both given and received. Mutual respect for each other. Collaborative. Kind. Respectful. Honest.
✨Safe: A relationship that allows for each member to exist as the best version of themselves while also rooted in authenticity and vulnerability. Raw and whole. Accepting and curious. Non-punitive. Never intentionally harmful emotionally, mentally, or physically. When one mis-steps as we often do because we are human, safe relationships create space to process, hold accountable, and heal together.
✨Appropriate: Each voice has space to be present and be heard in this relationship. There is not a power struggle. If there is bias, it is addressed and intentionally tended to. Acknowledgement of self and others needs. Aware of the dynamic in which the relationship has been created. Respectful.

Developing these good, safe, and appropriate relationships provides us growth in our ego strength which is the belief in oneself that can move us towards positive action; helps us find and use our voice when we felt we could not speak up before, and sets us on a firm foundation of connection that is life giving and healing.

Healing in connection is fun, hard, vulnerable, and worth it!
