Hello!
Hello, I'm Julia (she/her), a queer transgender woman originally from Louisville, Kentucky. I have lived in both Massachusetts and the San Francisco Bay Area, and I earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. I am currently living in Lexington and completing my Master of Social Work at the University of Kentucky. My goal is to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), which is one path to becoming a therapist.

Specialty Areas include: Adults,; Anxiety/Depression; Gender Affirming Care & support for the LGBTQIA+ community; Trauma & PTSD
My Story
I returned to Kentucky because I want to support LGBTQ+ individuals throughout the state through telehealth services. When I was younger, I didn't have access to affirming mental health resources, and I understand how important it is to feel safe, accepted, and free from judgment when seeking support. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have experienced discrimination, rejection, and homelessness, experiences that have strengthened my commitment to approaching others with empathy, compassion, and unconditional positive regard.
My clinical approach is integrative, drawing from a variety of theories, frameworks, and therapeutic modalities. I work from an intersectional, anti-racist, and person-centered perspective and am committed to trauma-informed care. I also incorporate ecological systems theory, which recognizes that a person's relationships, environment, and lived experiences can significantly influence mental health and well-being. By taking these factors into account, I strive to develop an individualized approach that best meets each person's unique needs and goals.
My areas of interest include gender-affirming care, anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma, the effects of discrimination, and suicidal ideation. I will be working with Ashley Vicari Counseling as a student intern, from January 11 through August 6, 2027, providing telehealth-based individual sessions and virtual support groups. I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the community, and I would be honored to be part of your journey. If you are interested in working with me, please reach out.
